A Yeezy Outfit (Remixed)
Initially, when Kanye West came out with a collection - I was conked out sleep despite everyone else around me being wide awake to it. I didn't understand it, but the main reason is that I enjoy pieces that are more over the top detailed compared to simple neutrals.
Yet as I evolve, grow older, and get busier with life, I've developed an appreciation for the basics because of how easy it is to pull them together and still look good. Talk about a TIME. 👏🏾 SAVER.👏🏾
This 'yeezy outfit' look is a great example of how I still stay true to my "extraness" while merging with an "effortless" approach incorporating some basics.
A Quick Download on YEEZY:
And I say "curator" instead of "designer" very intentionally because Kanye considers himself a curator rather than a designer since he pulls from various other sources and pulls them together in his own way.
Ye is quite purposeful coordinating his pieces with the skin tone of the model going with a monochromatic look of neutrals. Inclusive neutrals - from albino to luscious dark skin tones. His thinking is that people just want to wear yoga pants and sweatshirts - so what he did was made a more fashionable, everyday version of that.
If you look around, you'll notice a lot of fast fashion retailers, influencers, and Instagram baddies are pulling inspiration from various Yeezy seasons. Gotta admit he's done a damn good job at curating something that everyone can look and feel good in.
But...that's enough of a download for now, if you want know more - Google it.
Uhmmm, What Yeezy Outfit!?
It's a Yeezy Outfit "Remixed" for a reason, I only pulled so many elements but it's not an exact copy of it. 😉 Let's get into this and you'll see what I mean. It's also worth mentioning that when I purchased these pieces - it was on an individual basis and they all just so happen to come and work together based on these influences.
This piece is apart of the "extraness" with this letterman jacket style patches to the black and white paint splatter. How it ties into the Yeezy Outfit vibe? The baggy and oversized look along with the perfect olivine color to match my skin tone.
Pants: American Apparel
I got these pants from Pavement Clothing in Houston off Montrose, not sure if American Apparel sells them anymore. BUT... if you google 'American Apparel Riding Pant', a few should actually come up. The color tone of these screamed 'yeezy' to me and they paired well with the jacket. From there a color palette for this look was born...
Shoes: Kendall and Kylie
These shoes complimented the jacket well, the beauty is they came with two pairs of laces - black and white. As you can see, I opted for the white laces to go with the white paint splatter on the jacket. Teyana Taylor had a badass pair of Dsquared2 boots and these shoes were the closest I could get to them without dropping $1,500. It was either the Kendall and Kylie boots or Jeffrey Campbell's Legion.
There's variations of the Dquared2 shoe, but I dig how they play around with the use of what look to be like bungee cord shoe laces in different colors and styles. It inspires me to play around and get exploratory with the laces on my own boots. The boots don't exactly go with a typical yeezy outfit, but this is a remix after all.
Necklace: Supply Bloq
To seal the deal on this yeezy outfit, I went for a good ol' trusty black top. And...some gold jewelry - with my favorite Chanel medallion from Supply Bloq. I got a little lazy this day and did layer up with as many necklaces as usual, but two did just fine.
There you have it - my remix of a yeezy inspired outfit. Definitely rigged this look and probably will pull from this framework again in the future.
