Wearing Pajamas to a Birthday Dinner and How I Got Away With It
No meddling kids up in my wardrobe! 😜
(Scooby-Doo reference if you didn't catch it.)
Anyways, this lovely silk (or satin) top pictured above is one of my finds from Zara when they were having that big sale after the holiday season. And I can't help but to wonder, throughout my excitement, did I grab a pajama top and not realize it?
Seriously though, have you ever seen those silk pajama sets with the button ups? Now, when you look at this top - doesn't it remind you of that?????
***Style Tip 1: Pajamas or not. Clothes are clothes. Maybe there is an interesting way to switch up a piece for an occasion it was never intended to be worn at.***
Probably not so much now that I've nipped and tucked it a bit.
Roll up the sleeves, button half-way down, and get to tying up that bad boy. Why?
....it just looks so much better like this.
I will say, depending on your body shape, you'll want to be careful on how you tie up the shirt. You don't want it to bunch up so much in the back that it looks like a big puff because that will throw of your proportions.
***Style Tip 2: A button-up doesn't have to be "buttoned up." Cut it up or tie it into a crop top!***
Originally, I wore high waisted blue jeans with this outfit. Decided to try black instead because I like how it not only complimented the shoes more, but also brought out the black lining on the top itself.
I wore an old bracelet that I thought I'd never wear because it had this high school prom kind of vibe to it, low and behold.... the type of stones on the bracelet went well with the shoes, so it worked out better than expected. 🤷🏾♀️
