How I Stole Beyoncé's Designer Gucci Shirt
I really stole Beyoncé's designer Gucci shirt!
AND Y'ALL THOUGHT I WAS PLAYIN'!
Alright, so I didn't literally walk on Beyoncé's tour bus and snatch the shirt.
I just re-made my own version of it and switched around a few things so it coordinated with my vision.
Beyoncé went with some light jeans to contrast with the dark colors of the shirt and I decided to go with dark jeans to contrast with the lighter colors on my shirt. Yin and Yang. As far as the whole look goes, that was tweaked a bit to go with the vibe.
It reminded me of a look you'd see a college student on the east coast wearing, so it was only fitting to shoot this on a college campus. Aside from that, lets get into the details of the look...
The Shirt: Diy
Yes, that's right folks. D👏🏾I👏🏾Y👏🏾!!! DESIGN IT YOURSELF!! Don't get it twisted though, I don't say that because I'm boycotting designers or anything else of that nature. It just personally sounds much better than a do-it-yourself project. If you want to learn how to make your own, then check out my how-to for the details.
Shoes: Doc Martens
Good ol’ Doc Martens boots… AND in black patent leather. It was a tough choice between the ones I have now and the ones with the huge platform. The thought having to break those huge platforms and that leather made my feet hurt just thinking about it. Another small detail, the yellow threading on the boots add a bit more yellow to the mix. As far as the socks, couldn't help but to put my old HUF life socks to use since they coordinated with the shirt so well.
This part was harder than expected, but I took a note from Aerin Creer - she introduced me to color theory. Google it. Which helped me get over the bump of figuring out what color top to go with this look. #YoureWelcome
The other stuff:
Now for the speed round. Cell phone case is from my shop, the mom shorts are from Asos, and the black patent leather backpack is by Kendall & Kylie! I hope you enjoyed this look as much as I enjoyed seeing it come together.
